Flossing for Healthy Gums
While a tooth brush cleans the surface of your teeth, it does remove the bits of food that can get stuck in your gums and between your teeth. When these food particles aren’t cleaned out, it can cause inflammation, infection, bad breath, and even gum disease.
When you have healthy gums, it’s easier to have healthy teeth. This means less time spent at the dentist, a lowered risk of tooth pain, and more attention directed towards your radiant smile!
Tips for Flossing Teeth
Flossing should occur once per day, ideally before bedtime. To begin, take out a piece of floss that is approximately 18 inches long. You can wrap the floss around one finger of each hand by making your hands move like they are riding a bicycle.
Once you have the floss ready, use it between each tooth in a saw-like motion. To maximize the benefits for your gums, make sure to floss at your gum line on both your upper and lower teeth. Don’t forget your molars, too!
